Summer 2008...look for a new voice in Martinez

The Willows Theatre is currently accepting play submissions for NextFest 2008, a festival of new work produced by young or early career artists.  The festival will be held in our 176-seat Cabaret Theatre.  Selected plays would be produced in a staged reading and would be considered for full production at a later date. 

• NextFest is accepting submissions of previously un-produced work from artists who are early in their career.  We are accepting full plays, one acts, and musicals that would benefit from further development.

• We are accepting full scripts at this time. Please include a SASE for return of materials and our response.

• Please allow three months for a reply

• The deadline for NextFest 2008 is April 15, 2008.  We may consider work that arrives after that date for future festivals. 

• Please do not email your submission or email the office for information on the status of your submission

Next Fest 2008 will need talented young directors and designers who have training and are ready to take the next step in their career. 

Directors: An ideal candidate will have graduated from an undergraduate program with an emphasis in directing or will have recently graduated with an MFA in directing.  Directors who have a show in mind and are willing to take non-traditional approaches to the material are especially encouraged to apply.   All directors should send a letter or email with a short personal statement and a resume listing directing credits.  Directors with a piece in mind should also include a brief summary of concept as well.   Send to:
